Celebrating 250 Years: Ashley Harder's Appointment to the Arizona America250 Commission
In two years, on July 4, 2026, the United States will celebrate its 250th anniversary— a monumental sesquicentennial! I am honored and excited to announce that I have been appointed by Governor Hobbs to the Arizona America250 Commission. As we gear up for the monumental anniversary of the United States, I am delighted to help steer our state's contributions to this historic celebration.
The Arizona America250 Commission, established by the Arizona Legislature in 2022 through Senate Bill 1497, plays a pivotal role in commemorating the United States' semiquincentennial. This commission is an integral part of the broader America250 Initiative, a national movement aimed at celebrating the milestone by highlighting key historical events, promoting unity, and fostering a strong sense of national pride.
Consisting of 11 members, including 9 commissioners representing diverse sectors such as veterans, tourism, tribal nations, the arts community, education, and historic preservation, our commission ensures that the planned programs and events are inclusive and reflective of Arizona's extensive heritage.
The Arizona America250 Commission is one of 44 state and territorial America250 Commissions nationwide and part of a broader national initiative, known as the America 250 initiative.
